Pleasant Garden Town Council approved the 2009-10 budget of $417,219, a reduction of 5.4 percent from the previous year’s budget. Council members voted 3-2 to approve the budget, with Rick Wallace and Bob Wyrick dissenting.
The tax rate will remain 2.5 cents per $100 valuation.
In the capital reserve fund, $1.9 million has been designated for various projects, including phase I of the town hall site plan, landscaping on town hall property and potential capital improvements to implement the Jordan Lake Rules.
The funds for community organizations have been reduced somewhat, but the budget for community outreach has increased to help support town-sponsored projects such as a library with limited hours, a local “e-cycling” event for disposing of old electronics and an expanded blood drive and health fair.
