GREENSBORO – One man is undergoing surgery this evening at Moses Cone Hospital after being shot along Erwin Street.

Police responded to 116 Erwin St. at 4:43 p.m. regarding the shooting of a man outside the residence, said Lt. Dennis Willoughby of the Greensboro Police Department.

The man, whose name has not been released, was rushed to Moses Cone Hospital, where he is undergoing surgery, Willoughby said. The man’s condition was not immediately available.

Willoughby said there was some type of altercation between the man and someone else outside the residence that led to the victim getting shot.

He said detectives have yet to determine a motive for the shooting.

It was not immediately clear where on his body the man was struck or if he lived at the residence.

Willoughby said detectives are obtaining a search warrant to search the home and are working to interview witnesses to determine what exactly happened.

Anyone with information in the case is urged to call Greensboro police at 574-3573 or Crimestoppers at 373-1000.
