WINSTON-SALEM (AP) - Employees at North Carolina Baptist Hospitals will get increased discounts on fees and lower co-payments if a lawsuit over the hospital's group health insurance plan is settled.
The Winston-Salem Journal reported Friday that the hospital had reached a preliminary settlement on the hospital's MedCost plan. The employees had been required to pay more in fees for their group health plan that the hospital owns than other corporate clients.
More than 8,000 current employees could be affected by a settlement.
The agreement was filed this week in federal court, where an unidentified current employee and a former worker sued.
A hospital statement denied wrongdoing but says officials couldn't comment.
