GREENSBORO — Police are looking for a man who broke into a house Wednesday night and tried to assault a woman inside.

Shortly after 9 p.m., Greensboro police said a 19-year-old woman was in a back bedroom in the 4200 block of Harvard Avenue when she heard a noise in the front of the house. When she went to check, a man forced her to the floor and tried to pull off her pants.

But the woman escaped and ran to the kitchen, where she grabbed a knife. The suspect then ran out the back door.

The victim suffered some scratches but refused treatment from paramedics. A police dog searched for the suspect but found nothing.

Police had an incomplete description of the suspect. Anyone with information about this incident can call Crime Stoppers at 373-1000.
