WHITSETT - Authorities are investigating a suspicious substance sent to a Whitsett homeowner Wednesday, the sheriff's office said.

A resident living on Championship Drive found a white powdery substance inside two envelopes Wednesday evening, Col. Randy Powers of the Guilford County Sheriff's Office confirmed.

Hazardous materials crews were called to the scene, donned biochemical suits and removed the powder from the home.

Powers said the powder will be sent to a lab for testing to determine what it is. Investigators are working to determine who sent the envelopes.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 373-1000.
